Comparative Characterization of the TiN and TiAlN Coatings Deposited on a New WC-Co Tool Using a CAE-PVD Technique

چکیده

The main objective of this work was to assess and compare the structure mechanical properties TiN TiAlN coatings deposited on a new WC-Co tool using cathodic arc evaporation vacuum deposition (CAE-PVD) technique. cutting sintered at high temperature pressure powder tungsten carbide matrix ligated with cobalt (WC-Co). Powdered grain growth inhibitors (TiC, TaC, NbC) were admixed into enhance its strength facilitate adhesion Ti base coatings. Detailed scanning electron microscopy energy-dispersive spectrometry (SEM-EDS) X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses performed, aiming substantiate effectiveness inhibitor additions. XRD data thoroughly exploited estimate phase contents, average crystallite sizes (D), coating thicknesses (t), texture coefficients (Thkl), residual stress levels (σ). Atomic force (AFM) used calculate roughness (Ra) root mean square (Rq). microhardness (µHV) measured Vickers method. characteristics (D = 55 nm, t 3.6 μm, T200 1.55, µHV 3187; σ −2.8 GPa, Ra 209 Rq 268 nm) compared ones 66 4.3 T111 1.52, 2174; +2.2 246 309 better adequacy for substrate. structural features coatings, type, different kinds exerted these way discrimination are novelties addressed in paper.
